London Business School supports Initiation for Women in Board Positions

London Business School has welcomed the introduction of a new initiative aimed at promoting top business women with search businesses, firms and investors seeking to appoint new board member executives.

Jan. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- London Business School (www.london.edu) has welcomed the introduction of a new initiative aimed at promoting top business women with search businesses, firms and investors seeking to appoint new board member executives.

A searchable database developed by the Global Board Ready Women (GBRW) to target global corporate governance need for more diversity in European publicly quoted company boards. Group members which constitutes of women in business can ensure that they are at the fore front of board members roles and opportunities by ensuring that their profiles are regularly updated. This makes it easier for companies and recruiters to find those candidates whose profile are a close match with their requirements.

Over the last few months, top business schools in Europe have collaborated with the European Commission and senior executive women to create an increasing list of over 8,000 board ready women.

Wendy Alexander, Associate Dean, Degree Programmes and Career Services at London Business School stated, "At London Business School, we're wholeheartedly committed to enabling equality at board level within companies and organisations. Hence we're thrilled to support the much-needed Board Ready Women initiative, which will help women who are aspiring to be on, or who already serve on a board, connect with companies, recruiters and peers. I encourage all London Business School women to join the list, share their experience and follow the debate".

The Financial Times Non-Executive Directors’ Club will manage the Global Board Ready Women searchable database on LinkedIn. The group consists of women who have held previous board member roles or are in search for new challenge. All women on the GBRW database are suitable candidates for board-level roles on publicly enlisted company and meet the standards set by members of the European Business Schools.

According to Bridget Cosgrave, MBA1988, London Business School, "As alumnae, our links to LBS are often grounded in personal relationships with classmates and professors, and fundraising initiatives. Therefore it is a pleasure to see the School engaging in something new, the Global Board Ready Women database, a global initiative to enhance career prospects for all women graduates. The list is a global network to increase gender diversity in corporate governance worldwide".

The European Business Schools/Women has made it possible for each of the individuals selected for the Global Board Ready Women (GBRW) searchable database to be linked with BoardEx ‘s Profiles and to be able to access BoardEx’s database which consists of over 500,000 companies.
