New Accord and Civic Models Push Honda Monthly and Annual Sales Gains Forward

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan. 14, 2013 - 2012 marked the fourth-best sales year ever for American Honda, thanks in part to a strong sales month of December. U.S. sales in that month reached 132,774, a 26% increase from the year before. Total annual sales for 2012 for American Honda posted at 1,422,785 units, up 24% from 2011, giving the company its best sales numbers since 2008. The Honda Division itself saw an annual sales increase of 1,266,569 units, a 23.7% increase compared to 2011.

A major reason for the results being much improved has to do with the success of sales for the 2013 Honda Accord and Honda Civic, both of which showed tremendous growth from 2011. Team Honda is proud to offer its Merrillville-area customers the latest Honda models, including the Accord and Civic.

The all-new 2013 Accord saw its numbers skyrocket in the month of December. 29,428 Accord models were sold in that month alone, a nearly 67% increase from the 17,667 sold in December 2011. A total of 331,872 Accords left showrooms and lots across the country in 2012.

The 2013 Civic reached record sales numbers for the month of December. 33,118 units were sold in December 2012, an all-time high for that month, up 61% from the 20,545 sold in the month of December a year earlier. 317,909 Civic models were sold in the U.S. over the course of the entire 2012 year, an increase of nearly 44% from 2011.

The third-best selling Honda model for 2012 was the CR-V. This crossover SUV continued to hit sales records, setting an all-time annual sales mark of 281,652 units in 2012. The 25,733 sales in December created its tenth monthly sales record.

Acura’s Division of American Honda also saw improved results in 2012, with year-end sales of 156,216 vehicles, which is a 26.7% increase from the 123,299 units sold in 2011. The RDX set its eighth-straight monthly sales high with 4,024 sales in December. The MDX had 5,069 sales in December, making it the top-selling Acura model for that month.
