Two new associates joined the firm in 2012. Shifman & Carlson, P.C. welcomes Nicholas P. McElhinny and Elisabeth M. Utter to their Farmington Hills law firm.

Not only did they welcome in Daniel Carson as a partner at the firm, but they have also acquired two new associates. The Farmington Hills firm welcomes Nicholas McElhinny and Elisabeth Utter to their legal team and they look forward to the New Year.

Associate Elisabeth M. Utter obtained her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University, James Madison College in 2008 and earned her Juris Doctor degree from the Ave Maria School of Law in 2011. During law school, Ms. Utter acted as the Senior Editor for the International Law Journal. She is an active member in the State Bar of Michigan and the Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys. Her areas of specialty include: municipal law, estate planning, litigation, school finance, probate, estate administration, and real estate.

Nicholas P. McElhinny first joined the firm as a law clerk in 2010 and became an associate at the firm in 2012. Mr. McElhinny obtained his undergraduate degree in philosophy and economics from the University of Minnesota in 2006 and earned his Juris Doctor degree from Wayne State University Law School in 2012. Nicholas served as Managing Editor of the Wayne Law Review and graduated magna cum laude. His areas of specialty include real estate, business planning, small business law, estate planning, municipal law, and public school academies.
