ENR Midwest Best Projects Competition Winner Features Viracon

Jan. 10, 2013 - PRLog -- OWATONNA, MN – The East Tower at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL has received accolades from Engineering News-Record (ENR) in the ENR Midwest Best Projects 2012 competition in the healthcare category. The new 830,000-square-foot inpatient facility utilizes Viracon glass.

Designed by Perkins+Will, the 14-story, state-of-the-art medical facility is the center of a 10-year, $1 billion campus redevelopment project called the Rush Transformation. The East Tower’s glass exterior specified Viracon VE1-2M glass, which provides patients, employees and visitors with an expansive view of the Chicago skyline.

The facility earned LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council and is the largest new construction healthcare project in the world to receive the LEED Gold certification.
