Beauty Queens Release 2013 Charity Calendar

Jan. 10, 2013 - PRLog -- The winners and finalists of Miss Black Africa UK 2012 are about to release a glossy 2013 calendar. The calendar project is part of the Miss Black Africa Queens for a Reason intiative.  

The initiative uses the mass appeal of a beauty queen to raise positive role models by encouraging the girls to engage in activities and devise ways to give back to poorer communities worldwide by using their newly acquired status and fame in the achievement of these goals.  

Samaia Tchapesseka who is the reigning queen and a runway model is excited about the project. In her own words " making the calendar was fun. We had a fabulous time at the studio and all for a great cause."

Samaia was crowned Miss Black Africa UK in October 2012 in London beating 19 other finalists in a very close contest. Two weeks later, the pageant received the BEFFTA Award for the Best Beauty Pageant in the UK.

The models are raising funds for SOS Children, a charity registered in the UK. SOS Children works in over 40 African countries building children's villages, Nurseries and Schools, Staff training centres and Medical Centres.

The calendar was done in collaboration with TIDG Visuals and features a different girl for each month of the year.
