Follow on Google News | New Horizons of Southern California to Host Troops to Tech Careers NightNew Horizons of Southern California is hosting a free event for veterans interested in starting an information technology career on January 22, from 6-8 PM in Culver City.
In partnership with CompTIA, Robert Half, Veterans VocRehab and others, the free event will include several presentations focusing on transitioning into an information technology career. Topics presented will include the CompTIA Troops to Tech Careers Initiative, Microsoft Tracks and Certifications, 2013 IT Hiring and Compensation Trends, Transitioning Out from a Veteran’s Perspective and Vocational Rehabilitation Services, among others. The event will also feature information about NHSoCal’s Heroes Made to Hire Program, along with a job fair. Several companies looking to hire will be in attendance. At a time when some industries are losing jobs, IT offers a wide range of entry-level positions with diverse career paths. There were an estimated 300,000 open IT jobs in the United States in January 2012. “We can devise a game plan for those looking to jump start a career in the IT field,” said Cindy Sutherland, Vice President of Career Development for New Horizons of Southern California. The event will be on Tuesday, January 22, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at New Horizons Culver City, located at 100 Corporate Pointe, Suite 270, Culver City, CA, 90230. Admission is free, and there will be food and beverages provided.
