The Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness is a non-profit organization that has worked tirelessly for the past 12 years, throughout South Florida and nationwide, to prevent eating disorders and promote a positive body image, free from weight preoccupation and size prejudice. Our organization offers educational presentations, free support groups for those struggling and for their family and friends, advocacy for mental health legislation, toll-free national phone help line, and referrals, training, support and mentoring services. Since its inception in October 2000, The Alliance has offered presentations on eating disorders, positive body image and self-esteem to more than 200,000 individuals throughout the United States.
In addition, The Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness has published the first comprehensive national referral guide of U.S. eating disorders treatment centers. The goal of The Guide is to provide access to care for those who are struggling with an eating disorder and provide referrals to treatment centers that specialize in eating disorders. The guide can be downloaded from their website at http://www.allianceforeatingdisorders.com.
