Wine and Design is a popular business that began in Raleigh, NC in April, 2010. Heather Speizman was a successful entrepreneur who was looking to bring the franchise into South Carolina. In just one year, she now oversees operations in Mount Pleasant, Columbia, Myrtle Beach, and West Ashley, as well as Greenville. She says that opening a studio in Greenville was a good business decision given the area’s rich cultural background.
“Greenville is such a vibrant community and the people truly embrace the sights, sounds, and culture that surround them,” says Speizman. “There is so much natural beauty in this part of the state, that I’m anxious to help our prospective guests create some beauty of their own through paint.”
Speizman says that the Greenville area has so much beautiful architecture, as well as natural surroundings, that she is looking forward to working with her artists in order to create some regional-specific paintings for her audience.
“Since Greenville is located right among the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, I already know that we’ll be offering several mountain landscapes. We’ll also be working to reproduce some local landmarks such at the Furman University Clock and the historic waterfalls in the heart of downtown Greenville. The Liberty Bridge would also be wonderful to recreate.”
Wine and Design provides the canvas, apron, paints, paintbrushes, and corkscrew and the attendees provide a beverage of his or her choosing. First-
“I love introducing people to the world of art,” says Speizman. “The beauty of Wine and Design is that we appeal to everyone. Those with no artistic experience can absolutely create a masterpiece!
In addition to adult classes, Wine and Design also offers ART BUZZ KIDS classes which are tailored to children and young adults. Their “famous” ART BUZZ KIDS camp combines hand-built pottery and art during week-long art camps over eight sessions. Speizman says that after four years in the making, these camps routinely sell out within 24 hours.
Greenville is currently accepting reservations for January painting sessions. To view available paintings and to register online, visit www.wineanddesignus.com/
