Jan. 8, 2013 - PRLog -- John Baisden is pleased to announce another successful expedition to Ross Lake with a group of male students from the Turning Winds Academic Institute.  Every year, the students at Turning Winds have an opportunity to participate in an outdoor venturing expedition which the school sponsors throughout the year. These trips are a vital component in the therapeutic program at Turning Winds.

John Baisden has been assisting Turning Winds as a guide and leader on many of these expeditions.  He is an avid backpacker, hiker, and camper. The trip to Ross Lake went extremely well. The expeditions provide a unique learning environment for the students who complete them.  Students are faced with different and unique challenges during the expedition that they must solve through discipline, teamwork, and intelligence.  The trips build self-confidence and knowledge in the Turning Winds students.

Students get to prepare their meals, set up their own tents, and participate in positions of leadership throughout their outdoor adventure.  Throughout the trek, students are mentored by guides like John Baisden and other Turning Winds staff members. The group is awake early every day to plan, prepare and  set goals for how far they need to hike, and addressed any issues they might face and how they might overcome them.

Turning Winds Academic Institute has been hosting expeditions since it was founded in 2002. The co-ed therapeutic boarding school believes the trips are an important complement to the academic and clinical aspects of their program. Turning Winds' purpose is to help troubled teens identify and change the emotional and developmental problems that they have been struggling with in order for them to lead a healthy and productive life.

About: John Baisden is the Senior Executive Vice President of Turning Winds Academic Institute.  When he is not leading wilderness expeditions for the students he is dealing with the business and managerial aspects of Turning Winds.  He has a large family, which he regularly communicates and spends time with.
