Nissan of Cookeville Announces Altima Set All-time Annual Sales Records

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan. 8, 2013 - After ensuring the all-new 2013 Nissan Altima would achieve a new breakthrough in fuel efficiency for mid-size sedans—with the ability to reach 38 mpg on the highway right out of the box—the company also is enjoying a breakthrough on the sales front: For the first time in its history, the Nissan Altima topped the 300,000-sales mark in the United States, delivering 302,934 units that marked a 12.6 percent improvement over its performance in 2011.

Then, backed by the high demand for the Altima, the Nissan division realized an annual sales record of its own and sold a whopping 1,021,779 new vehicles last year. That, too, marked a milestone for the brand, as it crossed the million-sales threshold for the first time in this country, courtesy of an 8.2 percent advance.

Also selling into the six figures for Nissan last year were:

Nissan Versa—Serving up 113,327 sales—a jump of 8.2 percent—to once again lead the subcompact segment
Nissan Sentra—Capturing 106,395 sales that represented a 7.5 percent decline compared to 2011, but ready to rock in 2013 with a significant redesign
Nissan Rogue—Continuing to benefit from high demand in the entry crossover segment and good for 142,349 sales, which marked a 14.3 percent improvement

It’s also worth noting that the all-new 2013 Nissan Pathfinder has reinvigorated sales for the nameplate. Following a December in which Pathfinder sales jumped by more than 198 percent, the sophisticated crossover ended the year with 42,261 sales—and a 64.3 percent jump in the right direction.
