Jan. 8, 2013 - PRLog -- Bill Bunting, former Chairman of the Republican Party of Pasco County and current State Committeeman, made an unusual phone call to a Pasco County candidate this afternoon. In this call to Michael Malterer, candidate for City of New Port Richey City Council, he proclaimed the Republican Party of Pasco County's "heavy" involvement in this nonpartisan city council race.

Political parties do not make a point of getting into these small races and especially ones that are declared nonpartisan, as each candidate is under legal obligation to keep their own party affiliation in seclusion from the public. Why would Bill Bunting make such a phone call?

Michael Malterer is a young man vying for the seat on the city council against two seasoned politicians, although Michael himself is no newcomer to politics. He worked for the Mike Huckabee campaign in 2008 and has worked on various campaigns since. He is a regular attendee at all city council meetings and has shown a keen interest in the welfare of the city he grew up in and has now settle into with his own family. He is a part of the "Big Brothers, Big Sisters" program within the county and is involved in large amounts of charity and revitalization projects throughout the city and county.  He is a staunch opponent of the red light cameras inside the New Port Richey city limits and has made that a key issue in his campaign. His opponents have both been on record supporting the use of the cameras.

The answer to the peculiar call of Bill Bunting can really only be answered by the man himself, although we can speculate the measure to be one of intimidation for this young man entering the local political realm.

"Bill Bunting is trying to intimidate a candidate that he feels will not bend to the will of Bill Bunting. It is time that the Republican Party of Pasco start doing something to censor the bully tactics of their chairman. This race should be focused on the issues facing the City of New Port Richey and not the partisan fighting that has been administered under the likes of Bunting. I am completely confident that Michael Malterer is the best person to represent the people of New Port Richey and I give him my full support and endorsement" Alexander Snitker, Co-Host of the "Liberty Underground Show"
