Connie B. Berg Joins Warner Norcross
Grand Rapids, Michigan, January 4, 2012 – Patent lawyer Connie B. Berg has joined the law firm of Warner Norcross & Judd LLP.
Berg brings more than two decades of engineering and legal expertise to Warner Norcross. She joins the firm’s Technology and Intellectual Property Group, which provides a wide range of legal services, including patent prosecution and portfolio management, IP strategy development, technology and IP licensing, trademark protection, copyright and related areas.
Prior to joining Warner Norcross, Berg was a patent examiner in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in Detroit where she was responsible for business methods patent applications.
Berg spent nine years – including five as managing counsel – at Alticor, Inc., which does business in 80+ countries and has approximately 1,100 granted and pending patents worldwide. In her role as managing counsel, she managed a staff of attorneys and paralegals, as well as outside counsel in the United States and abroad. Berg managed patent infringement litigation, conducted due diligence of intellectual property portfolios during mergers and acquisitions, and led licensing efforts for the Ada, Michigan-based multi-level marketing company.
Additionally, she served as a patent attorney for two Chicago firms and the U.S. Department of Energy in its Argonne National Laboratory. Prior to starting her legal career, Berg work as an engineer and as a compliance officer with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
She holds a bachelor of science in biology from Northern Illinois University, a master of science in civil engineering from Purdue University and a doctor of jurisprudence from the Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Berg is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, State Bar of Illinois, American Intellectual Property Law Association and Licensing Executives Society.
