First up on the 20th October bantamweight Jamie McDonnell secured a chance at the IBF title by beating Darwin Zamora at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield. In a less than tough battle McDonnell sailed to victory when the Nicaraguan conceded defeat by not getting off his stool at the end of the eighth round.
Los Angeles was the setting on the 10th November for Nathan Cleverly’s retention of his WBO light-heavyweight title with an eighth round win over Shawn Hawk. Defending the belt for the fourth time Cleverly’s advanced skills and speed confused his opponent and floored him three times before the referee called time on the fight one minute and 53 seconds into round 8.
Carl Froch then defended his IBF super-middleweight title by defeating Yusaf Mack in a three round demolition on Saturday 17th November. Froch knocked Mack out after 2 minutes and 30 seconds of the third round in front of his home crowd at Nottingham’s Capital FM Arena.
David Price’s two round demolition of Matt Skelton on 30th November takes his unbeaten record to 15 fights. After the display of sheer class at Aintree Race Course Price is now in a prime position for a shot at the World Heavy Weight title next year.
Rounding off the winning spree on the 8th December Darren Barker’s come back fight, after months of injury, saw the 30 year old beat Kerry Hope in spectacular style. He dismantled his welsh opponent in 4 rounds setting him up for a second world title shot next year.
