Alexander Stuart was born and raised on a dairy farm six miles east of Owensboro, Kentucky. In elementary school he learned the rudiments of the music scale, but never played an instrument in a school band. His college years were spent at the University of Oklahoma, where he was inducted into two scholastic fraternities and received a BA degree in architecture.
Most of his professional time was spent in Phoenix, Arizona. On retiring, he, and his wife Mary, moved to Santa Rosa, CA, where their youngest daughter Alexis owned a music store. There, he got to know a few musicians, notably Hoytus Rolen, who inspired him to begin writing country songs.
About the Book:
As most writers know, titles can not be copyrighted. Therefore, if any of you
readers wish to plagiarize a title, there is nothing the writer can do about it. Text of the
work is another matter, however. Stiff penalties can be imposed on anyone who uses a
phrase, a line, a hook or any other part of this work.
All of these lyrical poems started out life as country song lyrics. In order for them
to make some sense as poems, a different format has been used. All of them are
available from the writer/publisher as song lyrics.
Many of these ‘poems’ have been recorded in Nashville, at Jay’s Place, as what the
industry refers to as ‘demos’. This fact is noted at the bottom of each ‘poem’ which has
been so recorded. Those ‘demos’ are available to anyone in the music business for
licensing. A license gives an artist, or band, permission to make a commercial recording
of the song. Contact Country Ham On Wry for all details.
If any writer sees a ‘poem’ that interests him/her, and they think it can be
improved through a co-writing effort, please contact as above.
If an artist and/or band sees a ‘poem’, that interests he/she/them which has not
been set to music, and they would like to be co-writer (music only), please contact as
above.
Any, and all other proposed commercial uses of these poems are open to
suggestion by the reader. The author will consider such suggestions carefully.
