Jan. 7, 2013 - PRLog -- The Bronx is Not Burning - For a couple of years now, there has been a lot of revived talk about The Bronx: some claim it is still ‘burning’ or that there are high crime ridden areas where alleged gangs take you hostage; gangs who come out of the subway with weapons and take all your belongings; all kinds of negative stories. I have heard it all, from the Tourists who have visited our Borough, and even more unfortunately, from our Locals, their minds convinced and brainwashed by the media images of the Fort Apache Bronx during 60's-80's. I have even noticed on blogs business people who still sell those images as current to raise fear because our Borough is vulnerable and an easy target.

Well I'm happy to inform you that the The Bronx is not ‘burning’, and that there is no such thing as gangs appearing from nowhere to take you hostage as they show in the Hollywood movies. These naysayers are misinformed and for the most part not even Bronxites, they try to capture your fear and turn it into media dollars, with a self-assigned upper hand in spreading ‘Bronx Noir’ tales from the dark side about our Borough.

Yes, we had a tough few decades from the 1960's through the 1980's, that's common and accurate knowledge, a lot of the Bronx went through a period of destruction, deterioration and urban flight; well it seems as if Hollywood and some people who wish to maintain this negative image of the Bronx continue to spread untruths about our Borough. We are not yet perfect, and even that is part of our current beauty and uniqueness; we still have roads to cross, for example, we used to be considered the poorest Borough in the Congressional district of the US but now that is changing for the better.

if you still remember when President Jimmy Carter, bringing worldwide attention standing in front of empty lots of burned down Bronx buildings, or if anyone recalls the famous Howard Cosell may he rest in peace, when he stated the famous Bronx quote: "There it is, Ladies and Gentlemen" "The Bronx is Burning" during Yankee Game 2 of the 1977 World Series game, those have stayed in the minds of many people and is understandable but now our Borough has gone through a major gentrification. It's unique beauty has been captured by our Bronx Historical Tours® I will tell you more about it on my Bronx Tours and expand on the unique History of The Bronx. Give us the opportunity to show you our Beautiful and unique Bronx. Make a pledge in the New Year to visit us, whether with me, your Bronx Tour guide, or on your own.
