"I think people are finally getting the message that planning for the eventual risk of needing long term care is essential," declares Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance http://www.aaltci.org, the national industry trade group headquartered in Los Angeles. "As a result, more individuals than ever are seeking information on how insurance works, how much to buy and ways to reduce the cost of this important protection."
For the first time the Association reports that over 500,000 unique individuals visited the organization's website. "We started the year with around 30,000 visitors a month but that number has steadily grown to the point where by year's end it was 60,000 or more," Slome explains. "This is a most important indication of heightened awareness and interest in the area."
The Association boasts the largest and most comprehensive compendium of information on the topic. "We consistently undertake new research into what long term care insurance costs, what coverages people buy as well as tax deductible limits and lots of generic planning information,"
An analysis of website traffic reflected what consumers were seeking when studying the topic. Slome notes that long term care insurance tax deductible limits and long term care insurance costs were among the most highly read topics. "People clearly want balanced and current information today and they use Google to find it," Slome adds. "We spend enormous time and resources dedicated to maintaining and adding to the Association's website on almost a daily basis."
