Aware Technology Forms Technical Advisory Board

Board of Industry Luminaries to Guide Refinements to Streaming Analytics Solution

Jan. 8, 2013 - PRLog -- Aware Technology today announced the establishment of a Technical Advisory Board along with the appointment of several foundational members.  Drs. Alexey Chervonenkis, Anatoly Mikhalski, and Anatoly Yashin join as inaugural members.  The board aligns Aware Technology with notable scientists whose counsel will guide further development and commercialization of the Company’s platform solution for advanced data analytics.

“We possess a strong technological foundation for addressing ‘Big Data’ challenges in the factory and process automation marketplace,” shared Peter Millett, Aware Technology’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer.  “With access to this team of world-class scientific advisors we gain critical expertise with which to propel our core technology forward.”

The three advisors are recognized internationally as experts in the fields of machine learning and applied statistics, and they are pioneers in the domain of pattern recognition.  The new advisors and select credentials include:

• Dr. Chervonenkis is a member of both the Institute of Control Sciences and the Russian Academy of Science in Moscow.  The recipient of many prestigious awards he has made notable contributions in the areas of pattern recognition and computational learning. Dr. Chervonenkis’ first book on the subject was co-authored with Dr. Vladimir Vapnik and initiated research in the area of statistical learning theory.  Together they are credited with pioneering ideas such as the inductive principle of structural risk minimization. The Vapnik-Chervonenkis dimension theory – or VC dimension – is an important method that is being applied by Aware Technology within its Process Data Monitor (PDM) technology.

• Dr. Mikhalski has also been a senior member of the scientific staff at the Institute of Control Science for over 30 years beginning under the direction of Dr. Vapnik. His research focus has been in the area of data mining under uncertainty and small samples, dependency reconstruction by machine learning, and mathematical and statistical modeling of morbidity and longevity in technical systems and living organisms under changing environment.  Dr. Mikhalski worked for many years as consultant to WHO and as a guest scientist at the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and at the Max Plank Institute in Germany.

• Dr. Yashin is a Research Professor and Scientific Director of the Center for Population Health and Aging at Duke University.  Prior to joining the university in 1992,  Dr. Yashin headed the Laboratory of Advanced Statistical Methods at Max Planck Institute in Germany.   His research interests and achievements are in the field of mathematical and statistical methods of analyses of genetic and non-genetic data on aging, health, and survival.  Dr. Yashin has published over 300 peer reviewed articles and is a winner of the 2012 Population Association of America’s Mindel C. Sheps Award for outstanding contributions to mathematical demography, demographic methodology, and the modeling and analysis of population data.

“Aware Technology is incredibly pleased to add these exceptional individuals to our team,” added Dr. Millett.  “Their involvement clearly indicates that our technology represents a cutting edge solution for streaming data analytics, and it points to the global scale of the Company’s market potential.”

Aware Technology is actively commercializing its PDM technology - a first of its kind streaming analytics platform for the industrial automation market.  PDM is based on patented machine learning technology first developed and licensed by NASA and improved by Aware Technology.  The continued investments in and improvement of the core technology to address the wide range of applications made possible by the Big Data explosion in industry are critical to the growth and leadership of Aware Technology in this exciting new field.

About Aware Technology

Aware Technology delivers “Automation Confidence through System Awareness,” by offering automated learning technology based on a combination of NASA Pattern Recognition and Data Clustering algorithms and automation industry specific Intellectual Property.  Founded in 2011, Aware Technology delivers PDM (Process Data Monitor), with an assortment of supporting products and technology, delivered as an Enterprise Appliance, or as a SaaS (Software as a Service) Private Cloud hosted application.  PDM learns from the day to day operation of your systems and automatically generates an experience database.  It then generates confidence metrics for usual behavior and delivers notification on unusual behavior.
