Lead Hazards from Home Renovations & Remodeling Discussed in New Online Video

Jan. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Today, the IAQ Video Network and Cochrane & Associates announced the release of another online video to help educate the public about issues that may impact their health.  Their latest educational video discusses potential lead hazards during home renovations and remodeling activities.

Lead has long been recognized as a harmful environmental pollutant. In 1991, the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services called lead the "number one environmental threat to the health of children in the United States." Decades later, it continues to be a threat.
 
“Lead-based paint is one of the most significant sources of lead exposure,” reported Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane and Associates, the company behind the IAQ Video Network and the new public outreach video.  “During home renovation and remodeling activities in older homes, potential exposure to lead should be considered.  People can reduce the risk of lead exposure in their home by hiring a certified lead inspector. If there is lead, people may want to have a trained and certified lead abatement contractor perform their services before any work begins.  We hope this video helps to educate people about potential lead hazards they may face during home renovations and remodeling projects.”
