9 year old Receives Presidential Recognition

Jan. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Alpharetta, GA:  9 year old Cody Jackson (AKA One Boy USO) to be presented the Presidential Volunteer Service Award

A Georgia fourth grader will be recognized by Congressman Price’s office on January 8th for his work on behalf of America’s military

The youngster, 9 year old Cody Jackson regularly travels to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta to greet active duty military personnel as they travel to and from combat in Afghanistan as well as veterans where ever he sees them.  He has personally thanked over 13,500 troops.

Further, the home-schooled youngster has assembled and mailed packages to deployed troops.  He has sent almost 2000 pounds of packages since December 2011.

In addition to all he has already done, he also wrote 2 books to show other children it is OK to be patriotic and to support the troops after being teased for his patriotism. (Pint Sized Patriots Activity book and Pint Sized Patriots: Standing Tall) all profits go toward the packages he sends along with the funds made from his t-shirt sales.  Cody also speaks at schools, attends charitable and volunteers his time at events such as Fishing for Freedom to assist wounded warriors.

In recognition of his work, Cody has been nominated for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award.  He has been granted the Gold Level award (the highest award) for his over 1700 hours of volunteer service since the age of 4.

Qualifications for these awards are:
Kids: Age 5-14
Young Adults: Individual Age 15-25
Adults: Individual Age 26 +

Presidential Volunteer Service Award Criteria
Bronze Level
Kids: 50 to 74 hours
Young Adults: 100 to 174 hours
Adults: 100 to 249 hours
Family & Groups: 200 to 499 hours

Silver Level.
Kids: 75 to 99 hours
Young Adults: 175 to 249 hours
Adults: 250 to 499 hours
Family & Groups: 500 to 999 hours

Gold Level.
Kids: 100 hours or more
Young Adults: 250 hours or more
Adults: 500 hours or more
Family & Groups: 1000 hours or more

The presentation will be made at Congressman Price’s office, address is 85-C Mill Street, Suite 300, Roswell, GA 30075 on January 8, 2013 at 10:30am.

He will be accompanied by his parents, Ken and Kelly, and his older sister, Brittani.
