For the 2013 marathon, PODS Houston will play an instrumental role ensuring the marathon goes without a hitch as it will help the event run more smoothly and efficiently for hundreds of competitive runners. A regular sponsor of the race, PODS Houston has devised a logistical plan that will line the race routes with PODS® containers to serve as command posts with refreshment and volunteer stations, as well as store medical equipment and other resources necessary for the races, saving the event more than $10,000 in storage, delivery and labor costs.
“This is our second year partnering with the Chevron Houston Marathon by providing our storage and logistical expertise at no charge. The marathon contributes so much to our community through the money they raise for local charities and we are proud to do our part to make sure that as many people are helped as possible,” said Phil Dvorak, managing partner of PODS Houston. “Our secure storage containers are ideal for this type of job as they eliminate the need to load and unload trucks and trailers multiple times. They also provided security and protection from the weather for the volunteers and equipment while the races are underway.”
Now in its 41st year, the Chevron Houston Marathon annually draws in more than 250,000 participants, volunteers and spectators nationwide.
“PODS Houston’s support made a significant impact on our employees, runners and volunteers by helping us maneuver equipment with ease last year,” said Larry Stryk, member of the Houston Chevron Marathon committee. “We’re excited to have them back on our team for the 2013 marathon to assist with all of our logistical needs.”
