A graduate from Victoria University in Melbourne with a degree in Sports and Exercise Science, she has worked as a personal trainer for over 6 years before moving to Manchester with her partner. “I love working in Manchester and the people are so warm and friendly. The cold mornings can take some getting used to but I thoroughly enjoy getting outdoors and training my clients. I tend to take sessions in the parks and I travel across a wide part of the North West offering one-to-one and bootcamp-style sessions too.”
Having worked as an international personal trainer both in Australia and for a short time in the US, before settling in Manchester she has quickly become a sought-after personal trainer in Manchester with a host of celebrity clients and even a waiting list for her female fitness classes which she operates across Merseyside, personal training in Liverpool and surrounding areas.
”My training style is very much based upon using the outdoors and the natural environment. I suppose this comes from my upbringing in Australia where outdoor fitness is the norm. There is nothing better than getting fresh air in your lungs when exercising. I ensure that my sessions are very mixed and provide a whole body workout through integrating calisthenics with kettlebell, boxing and circuit routines thrown in. My favourite piece of equipment is the Bosu and it’s is something I use with all my personal training clients to improve their balance, posture and core. I try to make sure that my sessions provide everything a client needs for better health. For this I focus on weight loss, toning, posture, core strength and I work on areas of weakness in the clients musculature. This keeps clients fit and flexible and above all injury-free.”
Sarah Beecroft, one of her clients comments, “I have been personal training in Manchester for just 6 months with Emily and I have already lost almost two dress sizes. She has the ability to make me work hard and get the most from the sessions without me ever getting bored. The sessions are such fun. I think that’s her secret. She knows what it takes to make me stick with the training.”
Emily has just finished an exercise photo-shoot for a leading woman’s magazine and has also been asked to feature on Sky’s Fat Families as their resident personal trainer and fitness expert. “I am lucky to have such interesting and varied days. My goals are to continue to train clients for as long as I can and to help improve the health of those I work with. I feel that health is a gift not to be taken for granted, and we all need to look after our bodies and stay active. I see my role as a personal trainer as an educator as much as anything else, helping to teach my clients how to live happier and longer lives.
Emily works with a wide range of clients from a number of prime-time television celebs to bootcamp classes and corporate fitness sessions. Her latest venture is providing personal training in Chester with a new range of female-only group fitness sessions. “I love the one-to-one training that I do, but equally it’s great to mix this up with my group classes which take place outdoors and enable me to reach a greater number of clients.” When commenting upon her future she says, “My life is now firmly centred around Manchester and apart from the occasional visits back home, my husband and I are looking to settle and make our lives here. I have a number of new projects planned over this year, that I am really looking forward to and the North West is a very exciting part of the UK when it comes to fitness.”
Supported by a team of fully qualified mobile personal trainers, MotivatePT works with a wide range of clients across Manchester and the North West. The company’s reputation for delivering rapid results has helped it to gain media coverage on both the BBC as well as features in national tabloids.
