Jan. 3, 2013 - PRLog -- THOUSAND OAKS, CALIF.—The Conejo Valley YMCA encourages residents in Thousand Oaks, Moorpark and the Santa Rosa Valley to put their health first by attending the Y’s week-long Membership Open House. From January 7 through 12, children, adults, families and seniors are invited to visit the Y and participate in group exercise and healthy living classes, swim in the Ys' two heated indoor pools and attend youth programs at no cost.

"Each day at the Y, families are coming together to get healthy," says Tori Gordon, the Y's membership and healthy living director. "Children are engaging in physical activities, learning social skills and building self-confidence. Parents are enjoying working out on the latest cardio equipment and participating in group fitness classes while knowing their children are in a safe, nurturing environment."

Many changes have taken place at the Conejo Y over the past year. "The Y is updating and adapting to the needs of our community. It truly has something for everyone,” says Gordon.

In addition to free classes and programs during the open house, the Y has special events scheduled for the week including a nutrition seminar, talks from local doctors, an aqua exercise class on Thursday, January 10, a sunrise run and Zumba class for family and kids on Friday, January 11 and horseback riding and a family barbeque on Saturday, January 12.

“At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive,” shares Erin Pierik, the Y's executive director. “The Conejo Valley YMCA wants our community to put their health first in 2013."

The YMCA is a leading nonprofit that is committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. To join the Y or for a facility tour, visit or contact the Conejo Valley Y (4031 N. Moorpark Rd., Thousand Oaks, 805-523-7613). Financial assistance is available for those in need.
