Redken Introduces Peter Millard Salon Lighting

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan. 3, 2013 - Salon lighting is crucial to hair color services and Redken and L’Oreal Professional Products Division have partnered with salon and retail design expert Peter Millard to introduce Peter Millard Salon Lighting.

Millard is a well-known New York City based designer specializing in salon and retail spaces.  Millard has appeared on behalf of Redken on stages at various events helping salon owners examine their salon spaces and organize their retail areas to enhance product displays and maximize sales.

For the past two years, Millard has worked with Redken to develop and test a new lighting system, getting input from Redken and Pureology color experts.  Peter Millard Salon Lighting was used in trials at the Redken Exchange and will be introduced to salon owners at the Redken Symposium January 20-22, 2013 in Las Vegas.

“Salon lighting should be the first and major consideration in salon interior design,” says Redken Artistic Director Kris Sorbie.  “Without efficient light, we, as stylists, cannot do an effective job in meeting client expectations.”

Millard worked with LED lighting experts to create lighting systems that feature his designer look, are reasonably priced and can be installed in tracks available at major retail outlets or in recessed ceiling fixtures.  Redken and L’Oreal Professional Products Division installed the new product with six of its top colorists in the US and UK for testing.

The LED lighting in the Peter Millard Salon Lighting system is cool, comfortable to work or sit under, energy efficient and uses bulbs that are warranted for three years, with an average life of five to seven years.

“The most challenging issue colorists face in trying to achieve great color results in today’s salons is bad lighting,” says Millard.  “How can you do good work when you can’t see what you are doing?”  Millard was unable to find lighting that satisfied his standards for the salons with whom he consulted.  Unable to find an affordable solution, he developed his own line of lighting.

The lights are priced at $189 per light, including housing.  “Why would a colorist pay more for a good appliance than for the lighting under which they practice their craft?”  Millard asks.  “Lighting is as important as any tool they use professionally, plus the system is sleek and beautiful.”

Peter Millard Salon Lighting is available in two housings, Silver Lotus and White Lotus and carry the Peter Millard Signature.
