On this guided bicycle tour especially designed for families, parents and children will cycle from the Yucatan’s jungles to the thatched roof villages of the contemporary Mayan world, observing the rich wildlife of the peninsula and stopping for breaks on pristine Mexican beaches.
The itinerary includes visits to important Mayan archaeological sites like Tulum, Coba and Muyil as well as to the 1.6 million-acre Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. During evening programs, guest speakers will discuss ancient culture and practices as well as the Mayan calendar. The program includes swimming in cenotes (fresh water holes), snorkeling along the world’s second largest coral reef, a jungle zip line adventure and a visit to Xcaret Ecological Park, as well as kayaking and hiking excursions.
The eight-day Riviera Maya Family Adventure bike tour departs from Cancun on February 16 and costs $1,650 per person, double occupancy. Land cost includes five days of guided cycling, seven nights of accommodations in beach hotels and family-friendly resorts, bike and helmet rental, most meals and entrance fees for activities and excursions.
