Montserrat College of Art Welcomes New Members to Board of Trustees

Montserrat College of Art announces the appointment six new trustee board members and two returning from the North Shore, MA.
 
Jan. 3, 2013 - PRLog -- January 3, 2013 - Beverly, MA – Montserrat College of Art announces the appointment of Michael Ancevic (Magnolia, MA), John Colucci (Wenham, MA), Katrina Maestri (Manchester, MA), Olivia Parker (Manchester, MA), Barry Weiner (Essex, MA) and Michael Wheeler (Beverly, MA) to the board of trustees. Welcomed back to the board are William S. Wasserman, Jr. (Ipswich, MA) and Katherine B. Winter (Boston, MA).

According to Montserrat College or Art President Stephen D. Immerman, Ed.D. (http://www.montserrat.edu/about/President_Immerman.php), “We are proud to have these very accomplished individuals joining our board of trustees. They bring a variety of experience in law, business, art and civic engagement. The board of trustees is a vital element of the college community, providing volunteer services, financial support and leadership for our institution.”

MICHAEL ANCEVIC, of Magnolia, is founder and chief creative officer for The Fantastical and The Fantastical Luxe companies, a new Boston-based next-gen advertising agency group. Previously he served as a Senior VP, Creative Director at Mullen, where he helped shape the creative strategy and look of Mullen’s work and established enduring campaigns for many of the agency’s national and global brands for over a decade. Ancevic’s creative work has been recognized with awards in all categories from digital to general to social. He also recently served as a member of the Communication Arts Advertising Annual jury.

JOHN COLUCCI, of Wenham, is a lawyer at McLane Graph Walerson and Middleton. Previously he was the Founding Partner of Colucci Norman LLP, Partner at Metaxas, Norman & Pidgeon, LLP, Shareholder at Colucci & Associates, PC, Partner at Gormley & Colucci, PC and Accountant for PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has a dual background as both an attorney and CPA. This unique skill set gives Colucci a differentiating perspective and depth of understanding of the legal issues necessary for protecting a growing business, as well as the financial drivers of operating and sustaining a successful company.  He received his J.D. from Suffolk University, B.S. in Accountancy and A.S. Management from Bentley College.

KATRINA MAESTRI, of Manchester-by-the-Sea, spent 15 years in an international corporate career with General Motors (GM). Her experience includes market research, strategic planning, marketing innovation and marketing operations. While at GM, her specialty was working with start-up operations and incorporating new technology.  Maestri was the marketing representative on the team that broadened GM’s presence in Asia Pacific in the mid-90s, resulting in the establishment of manufacturing operations in China and Thailand and expanded operations across the region. She served as marketing director on the team that implemented GM’s internet presence in North America and overseas. Maestri‘s love of philanthropy was sparked while living in Brazil where she became involved with a group of expatriates who focused on a small group of charities in high poverty areas.

OLIVIA PARKER, of Manchester-by-the-Sea, is an artist based who, after graduating from Wellesley College with a degree in the History of Art, began her career as a painter, and later became involved in photography. Mostly self-taught, Parker makes ephemeral constructions to photograph and experiments with the endless possibilities of light. She has had more than one hundred solo exhibitions in the United States and abroad, and her work is represented in major private, corporate and museum collections throughout the country. Portfolios of her work have been published in numerous magazines throughout the United States, Europe and Japan.  She has lectured and conducted workshops extensively both in this country and abroad.  Currently she is working on Still and not so Still Life, a series that involves the possibilities of the unexpected in a traditional form involving content, space and motion. Parker was the featured artist in Montserrat’s 2012 Artrageous!26 Auction.

BARRY Y. WEINER, of Essex, was one of the founders of Ruberto, Israel & Weiner in Boston where he is a shareholder. He is a trial lawyer specializing in securities, employment, corporate, construction and general business litigation. Weiner is an active practitioner before federal and state trial and appellate courts, arbitration panels, mediators and regulators. He is an author and lecturer in trial practice and procedure and alternative dispute resolution. Weiner has also served as a Master in the Courts, and as an arbitrator and mediator. He teaches advanced alternative dispute resolution as an adjunct professor at Boston University School of Law. Over the years, Weiner has held many leadership positions in professional, civic, political, charitable, educational and arts organizations.

MICHAEL WHEELER, of Beverly, is currently the president of Beverly Cooperative Bank. Wheeler joined the bank in 2000 as Assistant VP of Commercial Lending, was promoted to VP and then to Senior VP in 2007. He oversees all of lending and also serves as the bank's chief compliance officer and clerk.  Wheeler earned a B.S. at University of Southern Maine and an M.B.A. from Endicott College. He is currently on the Boards of the North Shore United Way and Salem COC. Wheeler recently completed service as member and treasurer of the Salem Boys and Girls Club and Salem Rotary Club.

Welcomed back to the board are William S. Wasserman, Jr. of Ipswich and Katherine B. Winter of Boston.

WILLIAM S. WASSERMAN, Jr. is a retired journalist who has been a part-time student at Montserrat. He studied journalism at Boston University and holds a B.A. in History from Harvard College. Wasserman‘s long and varied career as a journalist began with work for several large newspapers, and the founding of a group of award-winning weekly newspapers, the North Shore Weeklies, which he sold in 1986. He has also worked in the political arena as a volunteer and later personnel director and state field director for the Dukakis administration and in Washington D.C. as an administrative aide to former Congressman Michael J. Harrington.  Wasserman is passionate about advancing diversity issues. He is also a former trustee of the YMCA.

KATHERINE B. WINTER holds a B.A. from Radcliffe College in Cambridge. She is a board member at the Boston Center for Adult Education, the Bostonian Society, the Gibson House Museum in Back Bay, a member of the Board of Overseers of Planned Parenthood of Massachusetts and honorary trustee of the Children’s Museum of Boston. Winter is a former member of the Facilities Committee, Boston YWCA and the Massachusetts Art Commission. Except for one year, Winter has served since 1989 on the Board of Montserrat and was one of the key individuals responsible for the birth of the college.
