By: Community Partnership School The windows were created in the afterschool program at The First United Methodist Church of Germantown in collaboration with volunteer artists/mentors. These windows were exhibited at Drexel University’s Office of Equality & Diversity last spring and then at the Philadelphia Visitor Center at LOVE Park through summer 2012. Their theme, Hand•Eye Collaboration symbolizes meaningful relationships that develop through art. Community Partnership School is the 3rd school chosen by The Stained Glass Project to be recipients of their windows bringing light to this innovative new school founded through a unique collaboration between Germantown Academy and Project H.O.M.E. to give families in North Philadelphia access to a high-quality educational option in their neighborhood. ABOUT THE STAINED GLASS PROJECT: Founded in 2006 by artists Paula Mandel and Joan Myerson Shrager, volunteer artist/mentors teach students in the After School Program of the First United Methodist Church of Germantown, a program directed by Dr. Barbara Mitchell and Andrew Snover. Comprised of Christians Jews, Muslims, African Americans, African émigrés, Caucasians, old and young from many backgrounds, joined in a common purpose through art has sent windows to a school in South Africa and New Orleans.
