Collin County Alumnae Chapter to Host Event Celebrating Centennial of Founding of Delta Sigma Theta

Collin County chapter invites the public to join them as they mark the occasion of the organization’s one hundredth year

 
PRLog - Jan. 1, 2013 - The Collin County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. invites the Collin County community and surrounding areas to join in the celebration of the Centennial Founding of Delta Sigma Theta.  Founded on January 13, 1913, the Sorority’s 22 founders sought to use their collective strength to promote academic excellence; to provide scholarships; to provide support to the underserved; educate and stimulate participation in the establishment of positive public policy; and to highlight issues and provide solutions for problems in their communities.  

Today, the Sorority continues the mission started by its founders. Delta Sigma Theta has over 250,000 members worldwide, including 239 in the Collin County Alumnae Chapter.  The Chapter will commemorate the founding of the Sorority with a special program that is free and open to the public. Members who are celebrating 25 and 50 years with the Sorority will be recognized at the event. The details of the event are as follows:

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., www.deltasigmatheta.com was founded in 1913 on the campus of Howard University. Today Delta Sigma Theta Sorority has over 250,000 members and more than 900 chapters worldwide.

The Collin County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., www.dstccac.org, was chartered on March 30, 2008. The Sorority uses its Five-Point Programmatic Thrust of economic development, educational development, international awareness and involvement, physical and mental health, and political awareness and involvement to create its national programs.
