Dec. 30, 2012 - PRLog -- James Sherman is a 5 time certified instructor in Israel of the self defense system, Krav Maga. He has been a student of such names as Haim Gidon and Itay Gil. In this publication he provides a unique perspective on Krav Maga, self defense and fitness in general. James Sherman is also the creator of "90DX 90 Day Extreme Makeover", "Lose 10 LBS of Body Fat in 30 days", and "Gain 10 LBS of Ripped - Athletic Muscle." Sherman has taken the time to put together a unique interview in this new publication that is sure to reveal secrets you'll need to know whether studying Krav Maga, a different self defense system, or fitness overall.

Excerpts from the interview found in - A Real World Martial Arts Guide

Q.) Can you explain, in your own words, what Krav Maga style of martial arts actually is?

Mr. Sherman - Krav Maga is the Israeli self defense system originating in Europe in the 1930's.  The state of mind is street survival which includes training your mind and body to use all strikes, any weapon of opportunity, awareness, avoidance and de-escalation.  This is the training required to defend yourself in an instant against any attack.

Q.) How long have you trained in this form of martial arts?

Mr. Sherman - I started training in Israeli Krav Maga in 2005 when I met David Kahn, Chief US Instructor of the Israeli Krav Maga Association at his book signing at David Barton Gym in New York City.  I trained twice a week for an hour in Manhattan and 2 Saturdays a month for 3 hours near Princeton, NJ with top instructors, law enforcement and military including US Marines Close Quarters Combat Instructors, IDF Special Forces Soldier of the Year, Nir Maman and detectives.

Q.) Is this the only form of martial arts you teach?

Mr. Sherman - Krav Maga is the only martial art that I teach.  I have studied a small amount of wrestling, boxing, and Hapkido.  The many years that I spent playing and training in full contact football as a division 1 state champion for MSJ and Rutland in Vermont, and as a linebacker at Boston University helped shape the core of  martial art philosophy.  Fitness in mind and body, trying your best, goal setting and accomplishing goals are fundamental disciplines.

Q.) Is there anything you can add about Krav Maga that will help a student have a better understanding about this form of martial arts?

Mr. Sherman - A student of Krav Maga should be balanced in their own personal training.  Think of your family and friends.  Try your best.  Try to train in Israel.  Try to avoid violence. Try to deescalate a bad situation if you have to do anything to survive a worst case scenario.

Is it possible to get fit in just 10 minutes per day?
Life is busy, especially for New Yorkers. It can be difficult to squeeze in workouts when you have work, family, friends, a busy social life and a hectic New York City lifestyle.

But in as little as 10 minutes per day, you can start reaching your fitness results. And you don't need to do long, boring workouts when you have a plan that combines strength and cardio to double your efforts in half the time.

Combine this work out with the simple 10-minute diet, and you'll see how it doesn't have to be such a struggle to slim down. With a few simple changes in your eating habits, you'll get on the right track to burning fat, building muscle and getting a great body.

Why just 10 minutes?
Consistency is important when you're just starting to work out or are trying to get back into shape. To stay fit, retain muscle mass, and keep your body fat percentage low, you need to stay active and eat right.

It takes about a month to create a new habit and add it into your daily routine.
If you're not used to working out on a regular basis, you can start with just 10 minutes and create a new habit. And you're more likely to stick with it

The 10 Minute Workout is intense - perfect for boosting metabolism, building muscle, and more importantly, creating the after-burn that will keep burning fat for hours after you finish your routine. But because it's only 10 minutes, it's short enough that even beginners can do it.

The 10 Minute Diet complements the workout with simple, manageable changes that work even if you're always on the go. The diet gives you all the nutrients you need to boost your energy and keep your metabolism strong.

Try the beginner 10-Minute Workout and Diet - a two-week challenge

* Exercise for just 10 minutes every day.
* Drink 16 oz of water when you wake up, one hour before lunch, and one hour before dinner.
* Record your results every day. Notice what changes for your strength, endurance and how your body feels.
