On Monday December 17th 2012 Chevy rolled out twenty-four Express Vans from Atlanta filled with tools donated by Lowe’s Hardware and the Robert Bosch Tool Co. These vehicles and their tools will certainly go a long way towards assisting Habitat for Humanity and their volunteers in rebuilding the hurricane-ravaged areas of the East Coast. These vans are just the latest contribution from Chevrolet, General Motors, and the GM Foundation now totaling over $2.8 million including their October donation of 50 vans, hybrid SUVs, and crossovers to the American Red Cross.

Keenly aware of the needs of Hurricane Sandy relief workers, GM Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson knew that Chevy Express Vans were the right vehicles to help “affected communities and people get back on their feet.” With seating for twelve passengers (or fifteen with extended wheelbase models) and 239.7 cubic feet of cargo room, there are very few jobs these vans can’t tackle. Standard safety features including head-curtain side-impact airbags, all-wheel drive, and StabiliTrak® Electronic Stability Control help to ensure the safety of relief workers in unpredictable driving conditions.
