Nissan Plans To Develop 15 Hybrid Models By 2016

Nissan reveals their eco targets, which include a slew of hybrid vehicles and a goal to be the zero-emission automotive leader.

Dec. 29, 2012 - PRLog -- Along with many eco-conscious drivers, Knight Nissan in Swift Current (http://www.knightnissan.com/dealership/about.htm) is very excited to hear that Nissan has big plans for excelling in the hybrid vehicle market. Recently, during a press release intended to inform the public on their future eco goals, Nissan announced that they intend to launch fifteen brand new hybrid vehicles by 2016! Nissan’s COO Toshiyuki Shiga did not release specific details regarding the forthcoming hybrid models.

The manufacturer credits environmentally friendly technology and new products with helping them get in line with their eco targets for reducing CO2 emissions caused by the running of vehicles. They estimate that average fuel economy has risen 19% in the past seven years in major markets, and they intend to increase this further with their launch of fifteen hybrid vehicles and new electric vehicles as well.

Over the next ten years, the Japanese auto manufacturer aspires to reduce their total corporate CO2 emissions, and intend to be a leader in zero-emission technology to greatly reduce the utilization of scant natural resources. They aim to lead the industry in fuel efficiency, and, because of their proclaimed commitment to zero-emission leadership, it can be assumed that pure electric vehicles will be developed as well.

Although details about the future hybrid models were not divulged, educated guesses can be conjured, considering Nissan’s recent and past lineups. The manufacturer offered a hybrid model of its popular Altima in recent years, so it is probable that the midsize sedan will go through the hybrid alterations again. They also seem to be setting the stage to take on luxury brands with hybrid versions of the Infiniti.

Eco-conscious drivers buy hybrids for several reasons. Many respect the extensive and valuable benefits of hybrid technology, as their engines produce fewer harmful emissions, provide great fuel mileage, idle less, and reduce fuel usage.

The knowledgeable staff at Knight Nissan is happy to assist customers with questions regarding Nissan’s eco targets. They also offer the opportunity to test drive Nissan’s current new and used hybrid and electric models from their extensive inventory. Hours and driving directions (http://www.knightnissan.com/dealership/directions.htm) can be found on their website.
