Every 2 minutes, in this country, someone is sexually assaulted and 1 out of 3 children is bullied every day! In this country, 800,000 children disappear every year and sexual assault is one of the most under reported crimes, with 54% still being left unreported. If they are not reported...who is helping the victims? Most of these victims/survivors live by a code of silence and suffer for years before getting help, if ever.
Abuse and bullying lead to depression, violence, eating disorders, acting out, cutting and in many cases, suicide. It is the author's hope that the novel will raise awareness in both children and adults whether they are victims/survivors of abuse or not. The book is currently being reviewed by school psychologists with the intent of possibly incorporating the material into a teaching guide for schools.
