"The Adventures of Charlie Bubbles" is Paul's first in a series of children's books featuring the character of Charlie Bubbles, whose inspiration was Paul's son Charlie.
This heart-warming tale is about Charlie, a baby boy who can blow very large bubbles, which take him on a magical adventure. He learns the true meaning of the word friendship.

"One of the more imaginative and visually stunning children's books to come out this year is THE ADVENTURES OF CHARLIE BUBBLES! as written by actor/director/
Charlie is a little guy who happens to be able to blow bubbles with his tongue. One day he blows a bubble so large it surrounds him and he floats out the window, over a pumpkin patch where he encounters a frightened squirrel who hides inside a jack o'lantern, but seeing Charlie's dilemma, decides he must help his new friend. They pass by a garbage can wherein lives an old discarded unwanted teddy bear whom they befriend and the three are off to avoid a mean bee (but listen to a Honey Bee) to find some food. It all turns out well when the friends stick together to overcome fear, appreciate their own qualities, and to discover that appearances can't be generalized. `You can't judge a bee by its buzz.'
Not only is the story narrated in a fashion that will grasp the attention and compassion of children, but also the illustrations are so fine that they lift the book to an even higher level. This little book ought to be in line for Caldecott and Newbery awards! Highly recommended!
"This is a delightful story with clever colorful drawings. Baby Charlie, under a year old, dressed in blue baby pajamas, realizes that he can blow bubbles with his tongue. He likes to stand in a crib and watch the bubbles float away. The bubbles attract two buzzing bees: a blond headed smiling friendly female honey bee and a frowning mean male bee. Charlie is so frightened by the buzzing bees that he blows a large bubble that surrounds him and lifts him up, and Charlie floats outside his window. He meets a frightened squirrel that hides in a pumpkin and an old hiccupping teddy bear that its former owner threw away. The three go on an adventure, which also involves the two bees, and are soon in trouble. Children will enjoy hearing about the strange characters and their adventures."
“Like all beloved children’s books CHARLIE BUBBLES teaches
an important lesson in a way a child will understand
and it is beautifully illustrated to boot!"
