Dec. 26, 2012 - PRLog -- It was a happier holiday for the children cared for by Child Care of Southwest Florida because of the generosity of the Fiddlesticks Ladies Golf Association.
The women golfers have partnered with non-profit Child Care of Southwest Florida during the holidays for 25 years to provide gifts for children whose families struggle to make ends meet during the holiday season.
“We are fortunate to be associated with a group of women who have a passion for children.  Each year, the FLGA donate 150 toys to our agency.  The women, like Child Care of Southwest Florida, share the same goal of bringing joy to children at this special time of year,” said Beth Lobdell, executive director of Child Care of Southwest Florida.
Mary Ann Spatharos, Dianne Carroll, Marilyn Dittrich and Sue Reef of the Fiddlesticks Ladies Golf Association coordinated the toy drive.  In addition to purchasing age-appropriate toys for the children in the six child care centers operated by Child Care of Southwest Florida, the women gift wrapped each item.
Because many of the children cared for by Child Care of Southwest Florida come from low-income families, presents are a luxury that many cannot afford. The gifts donated by the Fiddlesticks Ladies Golf Association will help CCSWFL give every child from a low-income family one gift during the holidays.
The wrapped gifts are placed in black plastic bags and given to parents to present to their children, according to their family’s traditions.
Child Care of Southwest Florida, Inc. is a private non-profit organization dedicated to providing high quality child care services throughout Southwest Florida.  The agency
provides child care for children from infancy through age eight at its six child care centers in Lee and Hendry counties.  In addition, it offers training for early childhood professionals, and administers the federal food program for eligible centers and family child care homes in 14 Florida counties.  The agency must rely on generous donations and volunteer efforts from members of the community, corporations and foundations to build and maintain programs that make a difference to low-income children.  Child Care of Southwest Florida, Inc., is a United Way agency.
