By: BIG ARTS Tom Rush is a gifted musician and performer, whose shows offer a musical celebration. His distinctive guitar style, wry humor and warm, expressive voice have made him both a legend and a lure to audiences around the world. Rush’s impact on the American music scene has been profound. He helped shape the folk revival in the ’60s and the renaissance of the ’80s and ’90s, his music having left its stamp on generations of artists. James Taylor once told Rolling Stone, “Tom was not only one of my early heroes, but also one of my main influences.” Signed by Elektra in 1965, Rush recorded three albums for the label, culminating in The Circle Game in 1968, which included his signature hit, No Regrets. Rush toured extensively throughout the 1970s and releases several albums. In 2009, Rush released What I Know, his first studio album in 35 years. A review by Randy Lewis of The Los Angeles Times says, “[Rush] hasn’t recorded a studio album in more than 30 years, but you’d never guess that he’d been away so long, from the lithe spirit in his voice on these 15 tracks … At 68, Rush shows no sign of trying to push the boundaries of anything. Rather, he’s happy to sing about what matters to him and put the welcome mat out for anyone who cares to drop by and listen in.” A video surfaced on YouTube of Rush performing the sad-but- true ditty, The Remember Song. The video has generated more than six- million views. General seating: $37, Loge: $42, Student: $15.
