Shannon's time spent volunteering in 2012 was over 200 hours with 42.5 hours volunteered in October and November alone. She spent many weekends at “meet and greet” adoption events at pet stores for animals from the Madison County Animal Shelter. She also spent time working one-on-one with animals whose confidence had been affected by previous living situations. She is very proud of the adoptions of two sweet young male pitbull mixes named Shelby and Drake who spent several adoption events with her. Her enthusiasm and relentless efforts to find these animals their “forever homes” were factors in her awards. Shannon’s notable determination to inspire her teammates to get involved and volunteer was also a huge determining factor in selecting her for the Volunteer of the Year. For her contribution to The SŌLution through volunteering, Shannon was recognized and awarded with 2 donations totaling over $1500.00 to the charity of her choice. As Volunteer of the Year, she chose to give her prize of “a $500.00 donation to a charity of her choice” to the Madison Greene Humane Society.
“The fact that Shannon has dedicated over a full work week in two months in the 4th Quarter to her passions is absolutely inspiring,” said Kevin Tucker, President. “We are really proud of her and her efforts throughout the year to truly be ‘part of The SŌLution.’”
