On display below are several tips to help you troubleshoot Viking sewing machine.

Feed Teeth Problem

Always make sure that there are no pieces of thread, lint and fluff in the feed teeth. Also vital that you keep your eyes peeled for signs of damage on each corner of the feed teeth. The material often gets snagged if one or more corners are chipped or cracked.

One more thing that you should examine properly is the points of the feed teeth. They might become dull overtime, especially when they hit the presser feet all too often. When those points get dull, fabric tends to pucker or stitch length becomes uneven. All told, defective feed teeth must be replaced if you want smooth operation of your machine.

Noisy Viking Machine

Usually when I fix Viking sewing machine that produces way too much noise, I inspect the hook mechanism first. You should check and see if there’s too much dust and waste thread accumulating in this mechanism. If yes, clean them off quickly.

What about the tension on the belt? Is it too tight? If yes, loosen it quickly and see how that goes. Also take note of the treadle. If it makes too much noise, then I recommend you inspect the screws on which it pivots.

Grab a wrench and attempt to back off the nut once, or perhaps two turns at the most. Once you’ve done that, put a screw toward the needle so it takes up the slack sufficiently. Next, go ahead and tighten the nut, and then conduct the treadle test.

Oaky so what’s the test result? Is the treadle still noisy? If yes, then perform the above process on the other side.

Basic Viking Sewing Machine Repair Tip

Using your Viking sewing machine frequently often leads to large build-up of lint. Also be mindful that your sewing machine can get clogged up within a very short period of time, based on the quality of thread that you use. Sometimes the bobbin as well as the chamber gets clogged up with thread, and you need to remove them pronto!

Get a pair of tweezers and proceed to remove the thread build-up.  For your info, I prefer using a handheld vacuum that comes with a brush attachment designed specifically for getting rid of lint deposits. I think you should get one as well. It’ll help a lot!
