Hyundai Hope On Wheels Announces 5K Run/Walk to Benefit Childhood Cancer Research

PRLog (Press Release) - Dec. 21, 2012 - Family Hyundai in Tinley Park (http://www.familyhyundai.com/TopTenReasons.html) is happy to announce that Hyundai is contributing to cancer research in Hawaii on January 5th 2013 by sponsoring the Hope On Wheels 5k Run/Walk. This charitable event is part of the Hyundai Hope on Wheels campaign that has worked to raise awareness and money for cancer research all across the country. Past events include races in Coral Gables, Florida, Chicago, Illinois, and Irvine, California. The January 5th race will take place in Whalers Village at 2435 Ka’anapali Highway in Lahaina, Hawaii on the beautiful island of Maui.

Registration is $35.00 for adults and $10.00 for Kids, and it includes a chip-timer race bib, a 5k race t-shirt, on course entertainment, water stations, post race food and drinks, and a Hyundai Hope on Wheels Finisher’s medal. The Hope On Wheels 5k will take place in conjunction with the 3rd annual Hyundai Tournament of Champions PGA Tour Golf Tournament. Each race participant will also receive two passes to the final round of the Tournament of Champions

As part of this event Hyundai Hope On Wheels will also give a $75,000 Hyundai Scholar Grant to the Kapi’olani Medical Center. The proceeds of the 5k will go to benefit the Maui Memorial Hospital and the Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women & Children and the Hawaii Cord Blood Bank. This generous grant and donation will go to support cancer research and education. The Kapi’olani Medical Center is a nonprofit hospital specializing in maternity, new born, and pediatric care.

Hyundai Hope on Wheels is a concerted effort made by Hyundai Motor America and its 800 dealerships across the country to raise awareness and funds to help support childhood cancer research. So far the campaign has generated $60 million dollars for research and programs since 1998.
