Nissan Celebrates Ten Years of American Manufacturing

The automaker's Mississippi manufacturing plant has been producing Nissan vehicles since 2003.

Dec. 21, 2012 - PRLog -- Libertyville residents know that Libertyville Nissan (http://www.libertyvillenissan.com/about-us-139029.aspx) is their source for news and vehicles from the world-renowned automaker. Often times, news comes in the form of vehicle announcements, but in this case, Libertyville Nissan is proud to announce a very important anniversary: 2013 will be the 10-year anniversary of Nissan production in the United States.

In the past ten years, Nissan has assembled over 2 million vehicles, generating nearly $2 billion in payroll for its employees, and has no plans of slowing down. In Canton, Mississippi in 2003, a legacy was born, a legacy that the company is looking to celebrate with a range of events designed to highlight their commitment to the people of Mississippi as well as focus on the accomplishments of their over 5,000 employees.

Although their Canton assembly plant started out small, producing only a single model in 2003, it has expanded to produce seven vehicles out of Nissan's current lineup, from the Titan and Frontier pickup trucks to the award-winning Altima (http://www.libertyvillenissan.com/2013-nissan-altima.aspx) and more. Not only are these popular trucks produced in Mississippi, but the Canton assembly plant has become the automaker's center for body-on-frame pickups. This inches them closer to their goal of producing 85 percent of their American stock in the Americas.

Dan Bednarzyk, plant manager and vice president attributes the past decade of successes to the dedication and work ethic of their employees, asserting that Nissan has “more to look forward to in the future” because of their highly skilled and committed workforce.

In addition to serving as one of the leading job creators in the area, Nissan has a history of donating toward area organizations. They have contributed over $5 million to a variety of community-focused programs that benefit humanitarian aid, the environment, local schools, and more.

There are more announcements to come, as Nissan likely has quite a bit in store for this historic anniversary.
