“Clean cars from clean factories not only relieve the burden on the environment,”
With a commitment to reducing environmental impact, as well as production costs, Volkswagen has developed an innovative “Think Blue. Factory.” program designed to make automobile production more environmentally friendly. As currently employed by the VW Passenger Cars brand, this program is targeting a 25 percent reduction in solvent and carbon dioxide emissions, along with energy and water consumption, as well as waste production, by the year 2018.
The “Think Blue. Factory.” program is linked to the company-wide “Think Blue” program at Volkswagen, which represents a holistic approach towards environmental sustainability. All of the VW manufacturing facilities are encouraged to exchange knowledge and ideas regarding technical solutions and recommendations in an effort to further refine and enhance the vital elements and goals intrinsic to the program.
The “Sustainovation Award” is an annual recognition of businesses that combine success with sustainable methods designed to improve environmental efficiency. It is awarded by a jury of independent journalists and professors, on behalf of the Altran Foundation. The list of the year’s winners is published in WirtschaftsWoche magazine.
The official recognition of Volkswagen for its commitment to environmental sustainability, as evidenced by its ongoing “Think Blue” program, is not only a great honor for the company, but an example to other businesses of how to reduce their impact upon the planet.
For the staff at Liberty Volkswagen, it is an honor they feel personally proud of, and those who are interested in learning more are encouraged to visit their VW showroom at 920 South Milwaukee Avenue, in the Liberty Auto Place, Libertyville, IL. Click here (http://www.libertyvw.com/
