PRLog - Dec. 21, 2012 - Discovery Divers, a new scuba diving school operating from South Lombok has just opened it's doors.
Colourful coral in south Lombok
Discovery divers will offer fun dives and all PADI courses to dive locations all along the south coast, based from its dive centre in Kuta, Lombok.
Owner Denes Halmos said:
“We are all super excited, we have a 200hp engine which can get to any of the dive spots along the coastline in much shorter times, and while we have a local expert with us mapping out the dive sites, much of it is still actually untouched and we are all amazed at the quality of the reef and teaming marine life on every dive”
Lombok is an island in Indonesia, geographically, it lies next to Bali, but rather than the hustle and bustle of Bali, it is very under developed.
Journey out of Kuta town on the south coast and you will find bay after bay of untouched, un-developed white sand beaches, with turquoise waters, pristine diving, and world quality surfing.
It is often said that Lombok is like Bali was 30 years ago – but make no mistake, there are big development plans for the island; with a new international airport and the first few luxury hotels already in planning.
Now is the time to come to Lombok if you want to dive without the crowds, in a micro marine climate which home to unique marine life as well as pigmy sea horses, mantas, and for 6 months of the year even hammerhead sharks!
The diving along Lombok's south coast is pristine.
There is often high visibility, and the water quality is extremely high with no pollution.
The coral in terms of variety and colour rivals anywhere in the world, and unlike some nearby locations in Bali and the Gili islands it is untouched – it has not been dynamite fished and it is teaming with live and soft coral and macro marine life.
You will never see any crowds under water, right now Discovery Divers say they can guarantee that it will only be you and your dive buddies in the water (but how long will this last?)
And that is not all, if you're quick then you might even be able to help map out and discover new diving sites – the diving really is untouched and Denes estimates that perhaps still 50% of diving locations are undiscovered, especially if you take a journey a little further from Kuta town.
Discovery Divers have their dive shop right in the heart of Kuta town. They share space with the “Coffee House” on the main intersection of town (you can't miss them), so call in for a coffee and a chat, experience some fun dives in beautiful locations, or take your PADI open water or even Advanced or Dive Master certification:
