Lechter's debut novel follows the story of a Deandra, a mother in her early 40s facing the challenges of dramatic changes in her personal and family life. While struggling to deal with infidelity, teenagers, and creating an identity for herself as a writer, her life is further complicated by the realization of long-hidden abilities that take the phrase 'woman's intuition' to a whole other level. It's a storyline that appealed to the author on a variety of levels.
I've always enjoyed reading historical, family or relationship dramas that had a supernatural bent to them but they're few and far between, and especially those written specifically for an adult market," says Lechter, a mother of two, editor, and journalist. "So I set out writing this book with that in mind. I wanted to write something that combined elements of magic along with contemporary issues that people with a bit more life experience than your average teenager could hopefully relate to."
