California woman fights battle with ovarian cancer, wins PODS $10K Home Makeover Takeover Contest

Dec. 20, 2012 - PRLog -- (CLEARWATER, Fla.) – Sharon Harshbarger of Mi-Wuk, Calif. was about to undergo renovations for her family home in the Stanislaus National Forest when she learned the heartbreaking news she had a recurring diagnosis of ovarian cancer.

“I was first diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2008 and after several rounds of chemotherapy, it returned two years later as Stage 4 ovarian cancer,” Harshbarger explained. “The chemo has kept me from doing the homemaking projects I’ve had on my to-do list for many, many years.”

When Harshbarger learned about PODS Enterprises, Inc. $10,000 Home Makeover Takeover Sweepstakes back in October, she immediately signed up for the moving and storage company’s contest in hopes she could finish her long awaited home improvement projects. Harshbarger’s wish came true. On Wednesday, Dec. 19, PODS President and CEO, John Koch, presented her with a $10,000 check at the PODS Modesto, Calif. storage facility to help renovate and restore her family home in the mountains.

“I’m so happy to be alive and pray for remission everyday,” Harshbarger said. “This truly is a Christmas miracle. I thank PODS for their support and with this prize, now I can really work on my project list. Our home in the mountains has given me great peace – I’m happy to return the favor with a facelift!”

The $10,000 Home Makeover Sweepstakes was launched to celebrate the delivery of PODS’ two millionth container delivery in Valrico, Fla. in August and to show customer appreciation.
