The movie follows the story of Samson the lion, his son Ryan, and the rest of the animals that live in the New York Zoo. The moment the Zoo closes down, the animals under the leadership of Samson turn the grounds in a party place of pure fun and joy, hosting games of "turtle curling" on the penguin ice. But when Ryan accidentally gets shipped to Africa, it’s up to Samson, and his friends; Benny the squirrel, Nigel the koala, Bridget the giraffe and Larry the green anaconda to save the day. Things only get worse when Kazar, the wicked wildebeest enters the fray and Samson alone cannot defeat him!

How do Samson and the gang travel to Africa? Even if they do, can they save Ryan from the dangers of the wild in time? And who will protect them from the wicked Kazar?
