Even with the company and subsidiary companies, Coop's Moving Ltd, Starving Students Movers and BC Careful Movers and Delivery servicing a high volume of customers, they were able to take on this task and still fulfill a prior promise to the Surrey Food Bank to provide 2 trucks all week long including fuel at no charge in order to collect donations from schools, businesses and community agencies throughout the city. Each day 4 employees (2 per truck) volunteered to work for free on the trucks in order to ensure the donations were delivered to the Food Bank in order that they could help those in need this holiday season.
This is a very special time of year for most people and the team at Kary Movers believe that giving back to the community is an important part of what makes working here special. The owners of the company treat all employees as family and do many things throughout the year to recognize and show appreciation for the employees. Everyone feels as though it is a big family and that shows through the dedication and commitment all staff have to providing the best in service and community spirit.
Kary Movers Ltd participates in many community projects all year through. This ranges from contributions to many community organizations, staff and families of staff participate in volunteer activities together such as the Great Canadian Shoreline Clean-up, provide several free moves each year to victims of domestic violence in order for them to break free from the cycle of violence.
Kary Movers Ltd is committed to the communities of today but also of the future. Through the recycling and re-use of moving supplies they reduce these items going into our landfill at a rate of over ten tonnes per year.
The teams are dedicated to reducing emissions and consumption of fossil fuels through minimizing the idling of trucks and cars as much as possible. The company fleet ranges from small economy cars to 7 ton trucks. They only send the size of vehicle required to complete the job properly. "Why send a truck to a client who just required a small package picked up and delivered across town or to move a piano from one level of a home to another? It is an unnecessary burden on the environment"
Kary also promotes the use of another company, Frogbox in order to rent plastic moving totes instead of pushing their own sale of cardboard moving boxes, sacrificing profits for sustainability. Kary also offers special discounts to senior citizens as they understand the contributions of seniors to our society in the past and present, it is nice to show appreciation for such.
John and Monica Cousineau purchased Kary Movers Ltd about 8 years ago and several years ago bought Surrey based BC Careful Movers and Delivery. The company has continued to grow through being a part of the community and treating clients as part of the family. This past summer Kary Movers bought two more companies, Coop's Moving and Starving Students (Canada).
The company has also expanded services from local moving to also include long distance moving, corporate relocation, office moves, industrial moves and through two warehouse locations, secured storage facilities. "This success would never have been achieved without the support of the community allowing us the privilege of serving them so it is essential that we give back to the community that allows us to stay in business and grow as we have" says Monica.
Everyone at Kary Movers Ltd encourages other employers to encourage community involvement by their staff. Also to build a team based on mutual respect and frequent family events. It builds strong employees and in turn a much stronger company. It is not too late for your company to help others this holiday season. If your team wishes to make a group donation of non-perishable food items and require pick up, contact your local food bank. There are many other ways to help your community at this time of year such as the Province Newspaper's Empty Stocking Fund, JRFM's Basics for Babies or give your time at a local soup kitchen or other gathering place for our less fortunate this season. You will find the true feeling of the holidays which is to give to others without anything in return. It is what this holiday season is all about.
Merry Christmas to all from Kary Movers Ltd and our entire team. You can contact Kary Mover in Metro Vancouver at 604-687-1746 or from anywhere in North America via toll free number 1-877-687-1746 or at www.karymovers.com, on Twitter and Facebook.
