Trio of Dallas and Hip Hop 4 Hope Foundation have teamed up with Head Start of Greater Dallas and the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Programs to host the 1st Annual Hip Hop 4 Hope “Wrap” Jam

Dec. 19, 2012 - PRLog -- Dallas, TX (December 17, 2012) – Cmore Trio of Dallas and Hip Hop 4 Hope Foundation have teamed up with Head Start of Greater Dallas and the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Programs to host the 1st Annual Hip Hop 4 Hope “Wrap” Jam, a Holiday Toy Drive and Feeding.  The 1st Annual Hip Hop 4 Hope “Wrap” Jam will take place on the lower level of Southwest Center Mall.  Registration for feeding and toys will begin at 12:30pm and the actual program will begin at 1:00pm-4:00pm.  This event will include a full program of spoken word, comedy, dance and praise and words brought by Deputy Mayor Pro Tem, Tennell Atkins (District 8), City Councilwoman Carolyn Davis (District 7) and Marcia Page (Education is Freedom).  Special encouragement and performance brought by Dallas’ own Pooca Leroy, currently the only artist from Dallas to ever be interviewed by The Source Magazine.  The anticipated highlights of this event include the toy giveaway to more than 300 children and the feeding of 200 families.  There will also be approximately 20 vendors showcasing their products and/or services.  

Nicole Arrington, Founder of Hip Hop 4 Hope emphasizes, “Our goal is to receive 500 toy donations along with other items to make this event a success.”  Hip Hop 4 Hope Foundation, a collaboration of small businesses, community partners and entrepreneurs that have come together under one umbrella to coordinate events benefiting various non-profit organizations.  “Our goal is to have multiple events throughout the year”, says Arrington.

Head Start of Greater Dallas is currently serving more than 4,400 low-income families, preschool age children, and their families at 45 locations throughout Dallas County.  In Texas 450,000 (7.6%) of all children under age 18 live in grandparent headed households.  There are 64,000 in Dallas County alone.
