PRLog - Dec. 19, 2012 - Kampala, Uganda, December 14, 2012- Suretelcom Uganda Limited, Uganda’s newest telecommunications provider, conducted its first Ugandan GSM call on Friday 14th December 2012. To celebrate the occasion, a ceremony was held in the nation’s capital, Kampala, inaugurated by the Executive Director of the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) Mr. Godfrey Mutabazi.

Suretelcom is a subsidiary of the international telecommunication company Timeturns Holdings that currently operates, or has licenses in Nepal, Cambodia, Burundi, Tanzania, Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Uganda is the newest addition to the Timeturns portfolio and strengthens their presence in the region.
“We are proud to have successfully completed our first GSM call today, ahead of launching operations in Uganda next year,” said Dr. Upendra Mahato of Timeturns. “The penetration levels in Uganda are still relatively low with less than 40% of the people having a mobile phone.
