The time of year for skiing holidays is fast approaching and as usual the buzzwords of the season are book now for real bargains.
Graeme Whyte, the owner of the Adventure Travel Shop, told me that, “there are so many great early booking deals out there that we had to add a new category to our site and called it ‘Cheap Ski Holidays’. You can save up to £400 by booking now. These are holidays offering exceptionally good value if you get in quick.”

When you visit the Adventure Travel Shop you will be presented with a page that has succinct information about these two companies, and you will find direct
links to them. There is also a video of some pretty amazing skiing that really gets you in the mood!
All this is great news for those of you who are seasoned skiers, but what about people who have never been skiing? Surely the low prices should encourage them to have a go this year. Even those reluctant to take a chance on something new must be tempted by these low prices.

I asked Graeme what he would say to reassure someone who has never skied before,
“The only thing dangerous about skiing is that it is highly addictive! Accidents happen but very few considering how many people are on the slopes. The fact is that if you have never skied, then you are missing out, and it’s a myth that skiing is for solely for experts, or the super fit.”
I asked Graeme what tips he would give a non-skier?
“Part of the fun is in the preparation, and it is essential. Look up your nearest ski centre and ask them what they can do to help prepare you for a skiing holiday as a beginner. Once you learn the basics your confidence will grow and when you arrive in the mountains you’ll be ready for your beginner’s lessons.
I’d say lessons are essential, and well worth the money, but spend your money buying lots of gear. You can hire most of it, and probably borrow some if you ask around. It also pays to get a bit fitter beforehand. Again, you don’t need expensive gym sessions. Just use the stairs, walk to work, that sort of thing.”
It is true that a real a benefit of skiing is that you generally come back fitter and stronger, and the mountain air does you a power of good. You also have a lot of laughs and excitement, but these are not the only reasons for taking a skiing holiday.
Many resorts are near towns that are fascinating places to visit in their own right. The beautiful town of Innsbruck in Austria, for example, has lots to offer when you are not on the slopes. You can enjoy good food and drink, beautiful architecture, great shops and just getting to know another country, its culture, and people.
Inghams is a UK company with over 78 years of experience and is run by experts in both ski and snowboarding holidays, and SnowTrex is the largest ski holiday company in Germany. Both companies have holidays in Andorra, Austria, France, Italy, Switzerland, and USA. Inghams has skiing in Lapland and Canada, and SnowTrex have them in Poland, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, and Germany.
The choice is enormous, the savings are amazing, and the mountains, as ever, are beautiful. What are you waiting for?
