A Book Lover’s Guilty PleasureThe Library Hotel has teamed up with two New York City literary icons to create the ultimate book lover's "guilty pleasure."
By: The Library Hotel Collection For those not in the know, Strand Bookstore has been supplying New Yorkers with books since 1927 and is home to over 2.5 million new, used and rare books. Today, Strand is famously known for their 8 miles of books and the Library Hotel is proud to be their partner. The Strand holds a special place in the heart of everyone at the Library Hotel, because it was Nancy Bass Wyden, who owns the Strand along with her father, Fred Bass, who oversaw the Library Hotel’s original selection of 6,000 books that lined the shelves of the 60 guest rooms and four public spaces at the time of the Library Hotel’s opening in August of 2000. At over $85,000 worth of books, the project was complex, but Ms. Bass enthusiastically regarded the project as, “a labor of love”. Another Landmark, just steps from our front door, is the Morgan Library & Museum. Former home, library and office of J.Pierpont Morgan, the beautiful complex houses the banker turned philanthropist’ Books and art may satisfy most bibliophiles, but some may want to end their day with a nightcap. All guests of the Library Hotel can enjoy complimentary wine, cheese and Prosecco every evening on the Hotel’s second floor lounge appropriately named the Reading Room. However, the Guilty Pleasure Package takes guests to the Hotel’s rooftop bar, Bookmarks Lounge, where one can enjoy literary inspired cocktails like the Tequila Mockingbird or The Hemingway. The Guilty Pleasure Package is available until December 31, 2013 and requires a two night minimum. Rates start at $339 per night, plus taxes.
