Anchorage Downtown Holiday Parking

PRLog (Press Release) - Dec. 18, 2012 - Anchorage, Alaska -- Anchorage Community Development Authority's parking division, EasyPark, has extended free on street parking during the holidays at all their parking garages as well. "Providing free parking in EasyPark's garages is another effort to encourage everyone safe choices during the New Year's festivities in downtown Anchorage," Parking Director, Rick Onstott said.

EasyPark supports smart behavior that makes the city's streets safer when operating a vehicle. "Off the Road" ride program is available at most downtown establishments or if folks are not willing to wait for two taxis, they can leave their parking car overnight and request a taxi and/or leave with a friend that was a designated driver.

"The timing of offering free garage parking is also a bonus for the downtown celebrations," said Onstott. Anchorage Downtown Partnership will be offering a variety of reasons for people to come downtown on New Year's Eve. The fun begins with EasyPark's sponsored ice skating rink in Town Square Park for the children at 5 p.m., followed by a live concert, "80's Degrees" a 1980's cover band, and ends at 8 p.m. with the fireworks show.

The free holiday schedule for on street and garage parking is the following:

On Street Parking
Christmas Eve (12/24/12) - On street parking is free
Christmas Day (12/2512) - On street parking is free
New Year's Day (1/1/13) - On street parking is free

EasyPark Parking Garages
Christmas Eve (12/24/12 starting at 5 p.m.) - Garage parking is free
Christmas Day (12/25/12) - Garage parking is free
New Year's Eve (12/31/12 starting at 5 p.m.) - Garage parking is free
New Year's Day (1/1/13) - Garage parking is free
