Follow on Google News | Kary Movers Helps Maple Ridge Residents After Fire Destroys Apartment BuildingSeveral apartments on the top floor of the building were housing illegal grow operations and it seems that they caused the fire. The fire destroyed the building and innocent residents are left homeless this holiday season.
By: Kary Movers Ltd All of the three story apartment building was destroyed by either fire or water after several grow ops were located on the top floor. It is thought that they were the cause of the fire but this has not yet been confirmed by investigators. As the Kary Movers teams worked with the teams from Maple Ridge Fire and Rescue and Canstar Restorations the timing was essential to try and recover personal belongings of residents before further damage was done by the water still flowing down from the ceilings and walls. All people at the scene were working together as a large team even though everyone had their own goals to achieve. Fire fighters and Canstar teams were assisting movers by running lights as there was no power and ensuring the safety of everyone working in the building. Firefighters in Maple Ridge were exceptional as they first arrived as on resident claimed that he is on prescription sedatives and did not awake to the alarms and smoke. He says firefighters saved his life by rescuing him from the fire and carried him from the burning building. The Canstar restoration team was there to do everything in their power to ensure that after the fire was extinguished, further damage to the residents' belongings and to the building was minimized. Their team were efficient and professional in every way. This included helping residents understand the situation further and the process of how the situation was being handled. For anyone who thinks that grow ops have no victims, this is a clear example as to how so many people were victims to grow ops and lost almost everything they owned and were left homeless at Christmas time. This should also be a warning to building managers and property owners as to how it can be a huge mistake to not do regular inspections of rental units. The Kary Movers teams were in on Friday night packing and trying to recover items by flashlight and worked till about 11pm. They were back first thing Saturday morning and continued through the next several days moving items from the building to the Kary Movers storage warehouse in Surrey. The City of Maple Ridge and Province of BC emergency services stepped up to cover costs of the move for residents as only 2 units had insurance. Everyone stepped up at this special time of year to do everything they could to help these people in a time of need.
